The year 2024 is dedicated to Czech music, marking several significant anniversaries in Czech classical music. We commemorate the the 120th anniversary of Antonín Dvořák's death, and the 150th anniversary of Josef Suk's birth. A peculiar phenomenon, moreover, is that a multitude of years ending in four are connected in some way to the great moments of Czech classical music, the founding of notable performing ensembles or institutions, or the creation of famous musical works.
The third chamber evening of the MiraTone Festival pays tribute to the artistry of perhaps the most famous Czech composer, Antonín Dvořák, with two of his remarkably beautiful string quartets. These works will be performed by the internationally renowned Bennewitz Quartet, known not only for their victories in international competitions but also for their long-standing dedication to promoting Czech classical chamber music around the world.
